ASBESTOS PARTS ON IMPORTED MOTOR VEHICLES & MOTORCYCLES INTO AUSTRALIA
Any used vehicle or motorcycle imported into Australia must be free of asbestos. As the importer, it is your responsibility to ensure your vehicle is not fitted with Asbestos components.
Do your goods contain asbestos ?
This may relate to brake linings, clutch linings, brake disc pads, gaskets, seals or any other parts of the vehicle.
This has became a major pitfall with importing used vehicles since this rule was enforced in early 2017. Customs have been penalising importers where asbestos is found where first offence can be up to $8000. When the asbestos testing is done in Australia costs of the testing are varying from $800-$1000 per vehicle.
Ameroz will not ship any vehicle unless it has been tested in USA for asbestos. If customs require further testing in Australia, customers would be liable to all costs and penalties.

Hi all 🙂
My 1973 Mitsubishi coupe’ vehicle is about to be shipped to W.Australia, THOUGH, I’d like to have it tested prior to leaving Japan for asbestos related parts etc…
Could you advise whether you have such services offered in japan ? If so, associated costs please ?
Thanking you in advance.
Hello John, unfortunately we do not have any testers in Japan for asbestos. You might need to search Japan for a company that can test for Asbestos as a Certificate will be required upon entry into Australia, otherwise you will have to undergo testing once arrived, It will be expensive in Australia.
